Richard Hickock And Perry Smith

On 15th November 1959, Perry Smith and Richard Hickock entered the Clutters’ home and killed them all. The son, 15-year-old Kenyon, was tied up on thr sofa in the basement. His father was also tied up in the basement. His wife, Bonnie Clutter, and their 16-year-old daughter, Nancy, were tied up in their own beds. All of them were shot.

The motive for the crime was definitely money. Smith and Hickock had believed there was a safe in the house containing vast sums of money. However this was not true, and the pair walked away with less than $50 and a radio. The only evidence left behind were two footprints.

However Perry Smith and Richard Hickock were arrested, and both were sentenced to death. Perry Smith and Richard Hickock were hanged in 1965, being two of the last people to be hanged in Kansas.
