The Kray Brothers

Reggie and Ronnie Kray were twin brothers born in 1934. They were not living in the richest of families, but quickly rose from poverty to become Cockney crime lords, along with their brother Charlie. The twins had been taught boxing by their older brother, Charlie, and would often put their skills to use. Their first arrest was for nearly beating a London policeman to death.

By 1954 the Kray brothers were rising to power in the world of crime, with a long line of extortions and protection rackets. The two of them lived like kings for a long time. The two of them were also well acquainted with celebrities and politics. Later on Ronnie Kray shot rival criminal George Corner at point blank range in a busy pub, and almost at the same time Reggie Kray murdered Jack "The Hat" McVite, stabbing him so viciously that his organs were pulled out.

Both brothers were arrested and sentenced to life in prison. But even in prison the two continued to run their criminal schemes. Ronnie Kray was admitted to Broadmoor Hospital for the Criminally Insane, and died in 1995 after a long illness. Charlie was arrested on drug charges and died whilst serving a 12-year sentence. Reggie died on 1st October 2000.
