Beverly Allit

Having been a nurse for a while, Beverly Allit found herself suffering from a mental illness known as Munchausen’s Syndrome by Proxy, which is the desire to kill or injure to get attention. Whilst Beverly happened to be working at several different hospitals in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, a number of incidents occurred. Some of the patients’ ventilators and medication pumps were being tampered with, resulting in the deaths of 4 children and the injuries of 9 others.

Beverly Allit was suspected, as she just happened to be working at each of these hospitals at the times of the incidents. After an investigation, Beverly was found guilty. She was given 13 life sentences at Nottingham crown court in 1993. She is now kept in the Rampton Maximum Security Hospital for the criminally insane. It is suspected that she may have killed others that are not known about.
